Google Docs

I had never used Google Docs but I had heard some about them.  What I had heard was that they were there and could be used.  I had not been told or encountered the benefits that Google Docs has over Microsoft Word.  I finally experimented with Google Docs and I had no idea that they could be so useful when collaborating on projects.  I think that Microsoft Word has its uses but Google Docs is great for group projects.  I love that you can all simultaneously work on the document at the same time.

  1. I definitely agree-- I have almost purposely dodged using Google docs (and almost all other things Google) for the longest time, I suppose only because it was unfamilair to me and was rather intimidating. It was just such a luxury not having to go through the lengthy process of the dreaded "group meeting", with all memebers needing to find a particular time during our busy weeks to meet and colaborate. Through the use of Google docs, our groups' meetings were ongoing, allowing each of us to collaborate all week to eventually submit a well-developed assignment.

  2. I agree! I had never used Google Docs before this year and now I can understand why people love using it. The convenience of working on the same document as others and seeing what they are writing is wonderful for group projects. I would highly recommend incorporating this technology in classrooms.

  3. Another benefit of Google Docs is the security of knowing you will not lose your documents. I have had my hard drive crash more than once and Google Docs has saved me by helping me recover my work.

  4. I completely agree. I had never used google docs until this class but it is great that it is easy access for everyone. I love that if you don't have time to meet but you want to add something at last minute you can all access the document instead of having to email it out! It is a great source and can be very useful in classrooms!
